How to Book More Coaching Clients (Without Feeling Pushy or Salesy)

Struggling to book discovery calls? Here's how to attract aligned clients without cold DMs or pushy tactics.

Let's talk about one of the biggest challenges facing all  coaching entrepreneurs/ therapists and healers - How to get more clients.

Starting with getting more leads and discovery calls booked.

If you’re like most coaches, you’re passionate about helping people. You care deeply about getting your message out there and making a positive impact in the world.

And yet, it can be tough to attract the right clients and consistently fill your calendar with high-quality inquiries.

The good news is: there are proven strategies you can use that will pretty much immediately impact your coaching calendar and increase the number of discovery calls you’re booking.

Ive been coaching, mentoring and training in sales for over 25 years and these are the same strategies I use myself and teach my clients to attract great leads and grow a thriving business.

So without further ado, let’s dive in.

1. Get Clear on Your Numbers

This is so important.

Think of your brain as a goal-seeking organism. When it has clarity, direction, and a target to focus on, it’s amazing how it lights up and leads the way.  You will find yourself opening up to greater clarity, resourcefulness, and creativity.  Opportunities open up because you're switched on to what is important to you.

So really drill down:

  • What are your numbers?

  • How many leads and sales do you need to hit your monthly income goal?

Let’s break this down with an example:
Say you want to make $10,000/month, and your signature coaching package is $2,000.
That means you need 5 clients per month.

Now let’s be conservative and assume a 50% conversion rate—so for every two discovery calls, you convert one into a paying client. That means to get 5 clients, you need 10 discovery calls.

That’s 10 discovery calls per month.  Rounded up, that's 3 discovery calls per week.

Now you’ve got a tangible number.

From here, you can measure your activities and track what’s working and what’s not.

You move out of arbitrary guesswork and into measurable strategy.

2. Get Clear on Your Who

You’ve got to know exactly who you’re marketing to.

Too many people say things like, “My ideal client is someone aged 35–55.”

But that’s a 20-year age range.

A 35-year-old is in a completely different life stage from a 55-year-old.

So dial it in. Be specific. When you know your ideal client’s age, you likely also know their family situation, career level, and more.

When you’re crystal clear on your who, it will inform everything else:

  • Your content

  • Your offers

  • Where you show up

  • What you say

  • And how you say it

You’ll start creating content that resonates deeply and this is when people DM you saying, “It’s like you’re reading my mind! How can I work with you?”

That’s when people are magnetised to you, and you don’t need to do any of that cold, icky outreach and inbox spamming. No pushing.

And it’s not just about demographics and pain points.  It’s also about the energetic qualities you want in your clients. I recommend creating two lists:

  1. A list of qualities you do want to attract (e.g., coachable, decisive, takes full responsibility, action-takers, fast payers).

  2. A list of qualities you won’t tolerate (e.g., victims, blamers, energy-drainers, late payers, non-committal types).

And remember: you attract who you are. So check in with yourself - are you embodying the qualities you want to attract?

3. Get Clear on Your Offer

This is another area where a lot of coaches struggle.

When you’re not clear on what you’re offering, it creates an energetic push-pull.

Part of you wants to help people, but another part is holding back because you don’t know exactly what you’re selling. That lack of clarity repels potential clients.

So get clear:

  • What’s your coaching package?

  • What problem does it solve?

  • What’s the transformation your client gets?

  • What are the deliverables?

  • What’s the price?

When you have all of that nailed down, you show up congruently in your messaging and your energy reflects confidence and certainty.

4. Get Clear on Your Purpose

By this, I mean the purpose behind your visibility activities.

If you’re showing up, posting consistently, doing “all the things” but no one’s responding you might start creating unhelpful stories:

“This is hard.”
“No one’s watching.”
“I’m invisible.”
“I’m not good enough.”

Those become mentations, negative affirmations, and by the Law of Attraction, you’ll start to experience more of the same.

So instead, shift your mindset to powerful intentions of service.

Don’t ask, “What will this get me?”  Instead ask, “How can I serve today?”

Detach from the outcome.
Come from a place of contribution.

Create because it lights you up.

Post because it feels joyful.

That aligned, generous energy will infuse everything you do and people will feel it.

And if selling feels icky to you, try removing the “need to sell” from your energy altogether. Focus on sharing rather than selling. Be aspirational, be inspirational, and the clients will come.

5. Be Consistent

Consistency builds trust.

It flexes a muscle that eventually becomes second nature. Show up for your business, your mission, and your ideal client.

The more consistent you are:

  • The more you develop the know-like-trust factor.

  • The more your name, voice, and message become familiar.

  • The more you become the obvious choice when someone is ready to invest.

And it’s not just consistency in your output it’s also in your mindset.

Make mindset work a daily practice. Keep yourself in a high-vibe, abundant state. This energetic consistency is what draws in aligned, high-quality leads.

Discipline equals freedom.

6. Use Video

Video has been a game-changer in my business.

It’s the fastest way to connect deeply with your audience, build trust, and create resonance. Whether it’s live streams, reels, or video content, it brings you to life in a way no static post can.

So if you’re not using video — start. It’s powerful, personal, and it works.
